The Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed) is a non-profit corporation founded in 1950. Once a year in late August or September, we conduct a one week program for the in-depth study of federal records held by the National Archives in Washington, D.C. and College Park, Maryland. There are no searchable records on this site. You are invited to explore the history and future of the Gen-Fed Program. Information about the program is found on the Registration FYI page.
Our mission is to provide quality advanced genealogical education about records created by the Federal Government to experienced researchers, without regard to sex, race, creed, color, or nationality. At the one week insititute, we are dedicated to promoting an understanding of the origin and organization of the historically relevant records in the stewardship of the National Archives and to advancing public appreciation of our nation’s history.
